Traditional Overtone Flute of the Russian fields. Originally made from hollow stem field plants at harvest time these simple end blown black bamboo flutes have no finger holes only a fipple blowing edge. Primarily used to set a musical rhythm, tones are played by altering the amount of blowing pressure to move through the natural harmonic series, Alternate notes and slurring effects can be found by holding a finger or hand near the far end of the flute. Mesmerizing music from Eastern Europe.
